Babysitting

 

This hands on Red Cross course prepares teens to take on the responsibility of babysitting, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep kids safe, healthy and happy.  This course covers the topics for both the Basic Babysitting & Advanced Childcare along with Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED. Topics covered include:

  • Guide to leadership
  • Basics of starting a babysitting business
  • How to stay safe
  • Basic childcare (Feeding, holding, bedtime, etc.)
  • Choosing age-appropriate activities
  • Child behavior and discipline
  • What to do in an emergency
  • Infant, Child CPR & AED
  • First Aid
    •  Bleeding
    • Chocking
    • Shock
    • Splinting
    • Signs  of stroke, diabetic emergency, poisoning and allergic reaction
    • Heat & cold related illnesses

The course takes approx. 15 hours hours – broken up into multiple sessions

Certifications: Upon successful completion students will receive a Red Cross Certificate for Babysitting and  First Aid & CPR

Cost: $150 per student

Age Requirements: Class is designed for kids 11-15 years old
